Lenovo is on the right track with its recently launched K3 Note. This is the fourth budget phone in a row from the company after the A6000, A6000 Plus and A7000. The K3 Note, which is exclusively available on Flipkart through flash sale, reportedly sold 50,000 units in just 10 seconds. Additionally, the K3 Note is said to have received more than 3 million registrations making the total close to 18 million, a massive number for the smartphone in the first four weeks since it is out on sale.

Design and Display

The phone sports a 5.5-inch full HD display (1920x1080p) with plastic body in matte finish. A review in The Times of India says that the device has a good touch response. The vibrant colors are impressive which make multi-media content a pleasure to watch. The façade of the phone has capacitive touchscreen buttons, placed below the display but they are not backlit. The micro-USB port and the 3.5mm jack are placed at the top. The back of the phone comprises a 3000mAh removable battery, dual SIM card and microSD card slots. Lenovo K3 Note is the only smartphone to offer a full-HD display in this price range.

Camera

The Lenovo K3 Note sports a 13MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash and a 5MP front facing camera with features like Panorama and HDR. The camera app offers a range of filters to choose from. Daylight images are clear and portray accurate colors.

Software

The K3 Note runs Android 5.0 Lollipop out-of-the-box with the company’s own Vibe UI on top. The Lenovo Vibe 2.0 skin customises various features in the phone. All the apps appear on the home screen itself which the users might find difficult to adjust with. The device’s Theme Centre app has 6 themes and 12 wallpapers to choose from but there is no way of downloading new themes. The features, Quick Snap, Knock to light, and Screen off gestures are notable.

Power and Battery

Lenovo K3 Note is powered by the 1.7GHz Cortex-A53 Mediatek MT6572 octa-core processor. The device is backed by 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Users who want extra storage space can also use microSD cards of up to 32GB. The phone delivers a smooth user experience across various use cases. Launching and switching between apps was also a smooth experience. The 4G LTE capable handset houses a 3000 mAh battery reportedly far from satisfactory. The phone’s battery also takes unusually long to charge. The battery gets depleted fast on heavy usage and hopefully a software upgrade might fix the battery bug. The review by GSM Arena also revealed that the K3 Note specifications are impressive but users are facing difficulties in multiple issues on internet connectivity and gaming.
