A new diet has helped 29-year-old LeBron James to lose more than 10 pounds this summer. He has posted a new photograph on Instagram wherein he looks skinnier than before.

The four-time NBA player will turn more heads than ever when he walks in with his Cleveland Cavaliers signature uniform this season because of his trimmer body.

James told reporters at a Nike sneaker event in Oregon that he follows a lean diet, eating nothing except meat, fish, fruit, and vegetables. The aim is to "test his mental fortitude," according to The Oregonian. He explained that his diet had no sugars, dairy, and carbs and that he followed the strict diet for 67 days. Apparently, his weight loss is so extreme that he is now trying to gain back some pounds, Business Insider reports.

His diet has intrigued most of his fans, and due to the photos of a few of his dishes on Instagram, most of them are following his 67-day diet. As an example, his lunch was only "arugula salad with chicken, strawberries, mango, cashews and olive oil/lemon vinaigrette dressing," Some research shows that Arugula ranks 18th in the most nutritious list. Strawberry is way behind, being the 30th, while winter squash is two steps away in the 32nd position, according to instamun.org.

According to Business Insider, an Instagram photo in August began rumours that LeBron was on a Paleo or a "Paleolithic diet," which matches diets of cavemen forefathers: lean meats, fish, vegetables, nuts and seeds, fruit, little starch and none of the foods that were known at the time. This kind of diet would bring down any kind of inflammation that leads to pain in joints or heart disease, weight gain and diabetes.

When he lost weight after the mid-30s, some NBA stars have taken his cue. LeBron, Carmelo Anthony, and Dwyane Wade all reduced weight this summer.

Still, initially, no one could really figure out why he had lost weight, until Brian Windhorst of ESPN let out that he lost more than 10 pounds due a low-carbohydrate diet. As Windhorst has been writing about LeBron since he was in high school, he could spill more beans about the "Cavs star" than anyone else.

He said that LeBron was probably recovering after his wedding blues, and he was in "the worst shape he's been in a while..." Last year, he really got off to a slow start, with a painful back, to begin with. But with a diet that had no carbohydrates, he lost weight quickly, according to eonline. At the start of the 2013-14 season, after winning the title in 2013 and getting married that summer, he had decided to start his diet. LeBron seemed a bit embarrassed about his weight. Ultimately, with just one month for the NBA season, the "best" player in the world is thinner than he has looked for in a long time, feel his fans.
