‘The Last Of Us’ Becomes The First PS4 Game In New PlayStation 4 Bundle

Many consider "The Last of Us" to be the magnum opus of developer Naughty Dog, which is a big statement to make when a company already has "Uncharted" and "Jak and Daxter" in its resume. The game won numerous Games of the Year awards and was critically praised upon release for it's dark, depressing storyline and well-written characters.

It was so praised in fact that the game was retooled for the PlayStation 4 and was recently given a "Game of the Year" edition for the PlayStation 3. With all the accolades that come with the game, a report from Gamespot stated that Sony has decided to have every new PlayStation 4 come with a copy of "The Last of Us: Remastered"

The game will now be part of a standard $399 PlayStation 4 package according to the PlayStation Blog. This includes a 500GB PlayStation 4 and a standard dual shock controller. There is some humorous irony in "The Last of Us" becoming the first PlayStation 4 game available for fans that have yet to upgrade.

This move is an interesting one, if one takes into account the fact that Microsoft beat Sony in terms of console sales back in November. Many attribute this to the new $350 price tag and the fact that the Xbox One came out with two "Assassin's Creed" games by Ubisoft.

Given the reports, it is unsure if this new bundle is only for North American audiences or if it will also reach gamers from other parts of the world. Regardless, this could encourage gamers to pick up the console, given the fact that it comes with one of Sony's most critically acclaimed IPs in quite some time.

At one point many considered Naughty Dog's creation "Crash Bandicoot" Sony's mascot for the original PlayStation back in the 1990's. So in some sort of symbolic way, this could be seen as a fitting gesture given the amount of hits Naughty Dog has made for all of Sony's consoles. The new bundle that includes "The Last of Us: Remastered" should be available in the upcoming days in North America, though it remains unsure if this package will reach other territories.
