In a radio interview following the tragic death of British singer Amy Winehouse, US singer Lady Gaga shares how the fallen singer inspired her and how fans used to think she was Amy.

During a radio interview, the "Born This Way" singer shares her experiences being mistaken as the late singer during the early stages of her career. "I was nobody when she was first coming out. I would be on the street and people would go "Amy", says the US singer in the radio interview as transcribed in a post by Truth Dive. Back in 2006, Lady Gaga had dark hair and had the same physique as the British singer, reasons why fans often mistook her for the Brit. Lady Gaga did not personally know Amy Winehouse, but says she truly "loved" the singer and was deeply inspired by her music.

Although viewed as a warning to musicians dealing with substance abuse, the "Judas" singer also said in the radio interview that Amy's death should serve a warning to the public. "It's a lesson to the world. Don't kill the superstar, take care of her soul" mumbles Gaga in the interview. Gaga's intentions might not be crystal clear in her statement, but her sadness is evident in a post made via her Twitter account. The US singer writes "Amy changed pop music forever, I remember knowing there was hope, and feeling not alone because of her. She lived jazz, she lived the blues".

Amy Winehouse was found dead in her North London apartment at approximately 3:45 AM for unknown reasons. Although police didn't find any narcotics in the singer's home, the media and fans were quick to speculate that drug overdose was the cause of her untimely death. The "Rehab" singer's remains were cremated earlier today at London's Golders Green Crematorium.
