Set to star alongside “Sons of Anarchy” star Charlie Hunnam in Guy Ritchie’s medieval movie, Poppy Delevingne is newest member of the “Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur” ensemble cast. The model/actress is scheduled to play as King Arthur’s mother, Igraine, and will play alongside Australian actor Eric Bana (“Hulk) as Uther Pendragon, Arthur’s father.

"It’s a big opportunity for Poppy and she's thrilled to have proved her worth on her own merit,” an insider told Mirror. “Guy thought she was right for the part from the get go apparently. She’s got the right look and he knew she was a proper grafter."

Before landing the coveted role, Poppy has appeared in a number of designer campaigns including Chanel, Marc Jacobs, Laura Ashley, Mango, Paige Denim, Burberry. She also walked the runway for brands like Julien Macdonald and became the face of the Louis Vuitton summer 2012 collection.

Set to be released next summer, the actress is reportedly “thrilled” to join the star-studded cast as she longed to follow of the footsteps of her younger sister, Cara Delevingne’s. Poppy is slowly making her mark in the big screen as she lands her first big role after a starring role in the short film “Perfect” in 2009. The older Delevingne starred alongside hunk actor Tom Hardy and Gemma Arterton.

Known for his films like “Sherlock Holmes” and “Fight Club,” Ritchie reportedly handpicked the 28-year-old British model to play Eric Bana’s romatic interest. The actress will join other high calibre stars including Jude Law (“The Holiday”) who will play the villainous Vortigern and Djimon Hounsou (“Blood Diamond”) as Bedivere.

Other stars who are in the film include “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Strangers Tide” actress Astrid Berges-Frisbey as the Arthurian love interest, Guinevere, and “Game of Thrones” star Aidan Gillen (LIttlefinger) as Goosefat Bill.

Meanwhile, Poppy’s famous sister Cara also made her transition from model to actress after she landed a role in the movie adaptation of John Green’s “Paper Towns.” She also appeared in the movie “The Face of an Angel” opposite British actress Kate Bekinsale and Daniel Bruhl, a psychological thriller directed by Michael Winterbottom.
