Gearing up for his new role as King Arthur, “Sons of Anarchy” star Charlie Hunnam is set to film in Snowdonia for his upcoming movie, “Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur” with director Guy Ritchie. A region located north of Wales, Snowdonia is playing a starring role in Ritchie’s remake of the classic Arthurian tale.

The “Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur” production is set to begin on April 14, Tuesday, to April 19, Sunday. The movie will kick-star a new franchise of Arthurian films, the beginning of the six-movie instalments. Based on the report, climbers and walkers are currently facing disruption as some trails and foot paths are being closed for the film’s production.

“There will be some disruptions and minor closures to footpaths and access land in northern Snowdonia for a few days,” according to British Mountaineering Council (BMC) spokesman Elfyn Jones in an interview with Daily Post UK. “With permission from Snowdonia National Park, the National Trust, Natural Resources Wales and several private land owners, Warner Bros and their agents have made arrangements to film scenes from April 14 to 19.”

Elfyn also revealed that the movie’s producers are keen to minimise any disruption and currently employs local extras and using local businesses while filming in the area. Hikers are advised to avoid Tryfan’s east face and north ridges during the day on Tuesday, April 14, and Wednesday, April 15.

Short traffic is expected on A5 at Gwen Gof Isaf between 8pm and 6pm on the A5/A4086 junction at Capel Curig until April 17. Footpaths in the Pinnacles are above Capel Curig will be closed and areas of Forestry Commission land opposite Plas y Brenin will be restricted on the said dates. Hikers are advised to check the post for trail diversions.

Scheduled to premiere in July 2016, the movie follows the young Arthur Pendragon who is unaware of the life he was born for until he grasps hold the magical sword Excalibur. Challenged by the sword’s power, Arthur is forced to face his own demons and unite the people to defeat the tyrant Vortigern, the man behind his parent’s murder, and claim the throne that is rightfully his.
