After 72 days of being married, 31-year-old reality TV star Kim Kardashian called it quits with ex-husband Kris Humphries as she cited irreconcilable differences on their divorce.

The ex-couple wed a lavish ceremony last August 20 in California and is said to the latest among the list of celebrities who top the shortest marriages which range from months to weeks to hours.

Britney Spears and Jason Alexander

Topping the list is Britney and Jason which lasted for about 55 hours until they untied the knot. The singer and childhood friend married in January 2004 in a Las Vegas Wedding Chapel. With her fair share of troubles and bizarre behavior, the couples split up after a lightning-quick marriage upon recognizing it was mistake. Annulment took place after.

Dennis Hopper and Michelle Phillips

Michelle divorced with ex-husband Dennis after a span of eight days after learning about Hopper's troubled relationships with other women. Hopper was known to have been divorced for five times. Michelle and Dennis starred the film 'The Last Movie' in the 70's.
