Yanai, also included in the roster of Japan's richest personalities also gave 50 million yen of the reward and his company covered the remaining amount as Nishikori made a mark in the history since he was the first man to represent Asia to play to play for a Grand Slam title.

Yanai also signed a sponsorship contract with Nishikori three years ago even when Fast Retailing Co. was not marketing a tennis line then. Endorsements from Nissin Foods Holdings Co. (2897), Delta Air Lines Inc., LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA's Tag Heuer and Japanese financial services firm Jaccs Co. were also included among the long list of the product advertisers that are willing to pay for this superstar.

Same with Yanai, Kei Shibata is currently celebrating in New York, even though his man Cilic lost the title in the U.S. Open final.

Despite setbacks and doubts in the final, Nishikori pulled out all of his lucky cards and the odds in his favour in a turnaround action-packed season and proved his strength to go head-to-head to win the match of five sets. The winner and the loser faced another test as they ensure to back up surprises that will happen along the way in the field of tennis matches.
