Rory McIlroy was not having the best performance on the golf course over the weekend but his little gesture made the day of a young golf fan.

The 25-year-old was previously criticized aftter appearing to brush off a boy asking for his autograph but there were no complaints at the BMW Championship in Colorado. In fact, during the final day of the tournament, the Northern Irishman handed a little boy fan a golf ball as he was pacing between the holes.

The world no.1 was gracious despite having a rough weekend on the golf course, including putting the par-three hole on Saturday and on Sunday - a startling display at even the world no. 1 can play golf like a commoner at times.

On Saturday, at the BMW Championship, McIlroy four-putted from short-range and then on Sunday, he four-putted again at the same par-3 12th hole. The only difference is that he hit the green in regulation prior to four-putting to a double bogey while on Saturday; he missed the green then four-putted to a triple bogey.

On Saturday, McIlroy took to Twitter and made fun of himself and announced to make up for the dropped shots on Sunday.

Rory McIlroy finished the tournament in eighth place.

During the playoffs, McIlroy is not the only top performing golfer who made similar bizarre feat on the same hole. Phil Mickelson hit his drive into a hospitality area for two days in a row at the FedEx Cup Playoffs, which started the Twitter hashtag #PhilWasHere.

Meanwhile, just recently, Twitter was flooded with a GIF portraying Roy McIlroy and golfer Sergio Garcia mocking Caroline Wozniacki during the US Open. The GIF was created by Adam Sarson who merged Wozniacki's gaffe from the US Open with another clip wherein McIlroy and Garcia appearing to make fun of what happened.
