Kate Middleton is all set to appear for her first official engagement at the end of this month, the first time since she gave birth to Princess Charlotte on May 2. The duchess and her husband, Prince William, will attend America’s Cup World Series in Portsmouth. The royal couple will watch the British yacht team compete in the international sailing competition, Kensington Palace announced on Thursday.

The new parents will leave kids Prince George and Princess Charlotte at home to visit Portsmouth. The Duchess of Cambridge will watch six international sailing teams participate in the event. The duchess, who has a passion for sailing, is most likely to cheer for the British team that will participate and Rover BAR, led by Sir Ben Ainslie. The event will be held at the Water Festival Arena on July 26, Hello reported.

Kate is going for the engagement to Portsmouth in her capacity as royal patron of the 1851 Trust. The Trust, supported by Ainslie, aims to inspire and engage a new generation through sailing and the marine industry. After the competition, Kate and William will present medals to the teams.

During the sailing engagement, the couple will also tour the team technical areas at the Royal Navy Base and meet the skippers and their crews from France, New Zealand, Japan, Sweden, Britain and the U.S. The royals will then visit the new BAR team base to review their state-of-the-art facilities, meet staff and families and learn about BAR’s investment in developing maritime and design skills. William and Kate will also visit the “1851 interactive zone” where they will meet young people who have taken their first sailing steps with the Trust, People reported.

The couple will also review the details of the five-week summer project, which is operating from Portsmouth Sailing Club in collaboration with their charity’s "sailing taster." Around 1,000 local children between the age group of nine to 14 years are being given the chance to try sailing. Meanwhile, Kate herself is an avid sailor since her childhood and during the couple’s royal tour to New Zealand last year, she and William took to the waters to take part in a race around Auckland Harbour.
