When it comes to fashion, the Duchess of Cambridge never fails, especially when she picks a look that suits her role as a dainty royal.

Upon greeting and thanking British Olympians at the Buckingham palace for a reception, Kate Middleton stunned the crowd in a black Alice Temperley dress adorned with lace and flowers. The ensemble for the night was topped with smoky eyes and a sleek hairdo.

The Duchess joined the Queen in thanking the Olympians for hauling 65 medals, 29 of which are gold, at the recently-held Olympics. The royals also paid tribute to the dedicated Paralympians who represented their nation well after gaining many medals as well.

Lee Pearson, a gold medalist Para-equestrian, expressed his gratitude for being able to celebrate his and his fellow athlete's success at the glitzy Buckingham palace. Pearson made history by winning his tenth gold medal at the Paralympics, along with a silver and a bronze for his sport.

"Coming here to Buckingham Palace to celebrate a home Games is also special because so many of the Royal Family came out to watch us." said Pearson during his speech. The Duchess, along with her husband, Prince William, and brother-in-law, Prince Harry, were present in most of the games during the Olympics and the Paralympics.
