The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge may have indirectly revealed the gender of their second child. While the royal couple has reportedly admitted not knowing whether the new royal will be a boy or a girl, Kate Middleton and Prince William recently hinted the baby could be a girl when they treated royal watchers to a breakfast wrapped with a pink ribbon.

According to Mirror UK, Prince William and Kate Middleton gave royal watchers camping outside St. Mary’s Hospital a breakfast treat consisting of croissants and cakes. The loyal fans were also given hot drinks. The breakfast treat was believed to have been the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s way of showing their appreciation to their followers, who have been camping out for days outside the hospital awaiting the birth of the new baby.

However, what was reportedly interesting about the pastries was how they were wrapped as they were given a feminine touch. A couple of boxes of the croissants and cakes were wrapped with a pink ribbon. The site shared a photo of one of the royal watchers, named Kathy Martin, holding out the box of treats along with the pink ribbon.

The colour of the ribbon is said to identify the gender of the new royal baby. Kate Middleton and Prince William may have insisted on keeping the sex of their second child a surprise until the Duchess gives birth. However, the pink ribbon was believed to be a direct hint to the couple having a baby girl this time.

Loyal fan Terry Hunt said she was still asleep when the boxes came. The royal watchers were reportedly awakened with a knock on their tents and someone handing them the breakfast treats, telling them it was from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. The breakfast treat was reportedly sent out in the early hours of the morning of Tuesday, April 28. "They saw they'd been camped out and wanted to send them breakfast,” a royal source said.

An excitement also built up on that same day after royal watchers noticed the increased presence of security around St. Mary’s Hospital. A police and his sniffer dog were spotted searching the grounds outside the Lindo Wing, where Kate Middleton is set to give birth to baby no. 2. Royal aides were reportedly also seen at the hospital in the afternoon. According to Mirror UK, their presence hinted the possibility of the Duchess of Cambridge having already gone into labour. However, it’s believed the security check was only a necessary measure to ensure the safety of the royal couple before the birth of the new baby.
