Pop sensation Justin Bieber recently deleted his Instagram account after receiving numerous negative comments about his latest gal pal, Sofia Richie. Ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez has apologised for igniting the bout with Bieber.

Richie, who is a 17-year-old model as well as the daughter of the famous singer/songwriter Lionel Richie, has been seen spending a lot of time with Bieber in the past few weeks, though it is unclear if they are actually a couple.

The comments on Bieber’s Instagram directed at Richie were so brutal the “Baby” singer wrote: “I’m gonna make my Instagram private if you guys don’t stop the hate. This is getting out of hand, if you guys are really fans you wouldn’t be so mean to people that I like.”

To add fuel to the fire, Bieber’s ex, Selena Gomez, commented on his Instagram, “If you can’t handle the hate then stop posting pictures of your girlfriend lol – it should be special between you two only. Don’t be mad at your fans. They love you. They were there for you before anyone.”

Bieber replied to Gomez: “It’s funny to see people that used me for attention and still try to point the finger this way. Sad. All love.”

Gomez responded again: “Funny how the ones that cheated multiple times, are pointing the finger at the ones who were forgiving and supportive, no wonder fans are mad. Sad. All love.”

But in one unexpected even, per screenshots circulating online, Bieber suggested he wasn’t the only one who was unfaithful replying, “I cheated…oh I forgot about You and Zayn?” apparently referring to Zayn Malik.

DailyMail reports that Bieber has been ignoring Selena Gomez’s calls after their massive Instagram spat.

The “Kill ‘Em With Kindnesssinger posted a quick video on Snapchat saying: “What I sad was selfish and pointless,” with the words appearing in white print against a black background.

There is still no response from Bieber on Gomez's apology.
