Joker, the archnemesis for Batman and Gotham City, could never be the same without his insane plans. He is the perfect insane counterfoil for the sane, angst-ridden Batman, often stealing the thunder from the caped superhero. Countless thespians have portrayed the Joker, like Mark Hamil, Cesar Romero, Jack Nicholson and most recently Heath Ledger. Now it’s the turn of Oscar Winner Jared Leto to prove his mettle.

The transformation process for Leto has been revealed online, and this has stirred the social media frenzy. Director David Ayer shared the first look on Twitter and since then, countless memes, reactions and tweets have created the hype for the movie. But Leto has big shoes to fill as he would be reprising the role which has been immortalised by Jack Nicholson, Cesar Romero and Heath Ledger. Ledger had received a posthumous Oscar for his portrayal for the super-villain in “the Dark Knight” in 2008.

According to Vanity Fair magazine, Leto's Joker would likely based on Alan Moore's graphic novel, "Batman: The Killing Joke," as Ayer has hinted. The green wig, the word "damaged" on his forehead, the blackened teeth and the "HA HA" tattoos across his body give an impression of a psychopath on the loose. Fans are eagerly waiting for Leto’s take on the Joker since every actor has brought in a different dimension to the villain. Jack Nicholson’s Joker was a gangster with no mercy, whereas Heath Ledger gave a subtle beginner impression. Where Ledger's Joker was experimenting with his kills, Leto’s look depicts a polished killer maniac.

The impressions of Jared’s look for the Joker in Suicide Squad have been intense, and the comparison to Ledger is going to be inevitable. Compared to Batman who has relived his angst-ridden but sane personality, Joker has been open to interpretations. "Suicide Squad" features an exciting cast, which includes Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Cara Delevingne as the Enchantress, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, along with Ben Affleck as Batman. For fans, it would be worth a wait until Aug. 5, 2016, when Suicide Squad finally hits the big screen.
