Johnny Depp is currently filming on the set of his latest film "The Lone Ranger" in Arcadia, California for the Disney's reboot of the movie.

The 49-year old actor was spotted shirtless in his costume as his bumbling and oddly insightful side-kick character Tonto. Depp was also in full eccentric make-up while acting out in a scene on a ladder with a blue screen background.

"The Lone Ranger" is an upcoming Western action film that is directed by Gore Verbinski and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures as it adapts on the iconic radio personalities of John Reid who is also known as The Lone Ranger. The film stars Armie Hammer of "The Social Network," and the "Pirates of The Caribbean" star portrays the Native American compatriot of The Lone Ranger. Completing the movie cast are William Fitchner, Tom Wilkinson and "Dark Shadows" actress Helena Bonham Carter.

Meanwhile, Johnny Depp and English actress Helena Bonham Carter are very close friends and have worked together in several films. However, this movie will be their first project together that does not involve film director and producer Tim Burton.

While the film production looked to be in dire trouble with a rapidly-swelling budget earlier this year, a Comic-Con trailer as well as leaked film set photos show that the "The Lone Ranger" is back on track. After a couple of setbacks, Johnny Depp's latest film is currently said to be released in theaters on May 2013.

Take a look at the video that reveals what inspired actor Johnny Depp with his character Tonto's make-up and costume.
