The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria fighters have beheaded a group soldiers in Syria after attacking a military airbase during the night. A new ISIS propaganda video was released showing the militants shooting down a fighter jet in a battle with Syrian soldiers.

ISIS captured several Syrian government forces from an airbase near the Syrian city of Deir ez-Zor. The militants beheaded the soldiers while taking photos for posting in social media. The Daily Mail reports that the beheading of Syrian fighters comes, following the release of a new ISIS video hitting a jet with an anti-aircraft weapon.

Photos have emerged on social media showing Syrian soldiers with one image of a man appearing to beg for his life. The soldier seemed like he was crying as several ISIS militants surrounded him. Another photo showed a close-up image of the soldier next to an ISIS fighter holding a big knife. The beheading of the prisoner can be seen in another photo with a militant holding the Syrian soldier's hair and slitting his throat.

Meanwhile, a new ISIS propaganda video was recently released, featuring the extremist group's attack and recapture of oil fields in Syria. ISIS militants purportedly shot down a fighter jet. The Sha'er gas fields were previously under the control of the Assad government, but the surprise attack meant ISIS fighters had overpowered the Syrian army.

In the video, one of the fighter jets was shown shooting at the militants as ISIS began hitting it with anti-aircraft gun. The footage showed the alleged wreckage of the fighter jet on the ground.

ISIS has declared its group a proto-state, following a violent interpretation of Islamic law. Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is the group's leader or caliph. Despite his great influence, the ISIS leader has managed to keep a low-profile despite earlier reports of him being critically injured, according to Huffington Post.

Lebanese officials have recently revealed they have captured al-Baghdadi's wife and child. DNA tests have confirmed the child is the daughter of the ISIS leader. Her mother was married to al-Baghdadi six years ago for three months, but the two are no longer married. Lebanese authorities said in an official statement that the two are currently being held in a child care centre.
