Apple's iPhone has often been compared to Samsung smartphones or the mobile devices of other top cellphone brands such as HTC and Sony.

However, the Web site EverythingApplePro's YouTube channel literally took the saying "You can't compare apples to oranges" by comparing the speed of 8 Apple iPhone models. These are the iPhone 5S, 5C, 5, 4S, 4, 3GS, 3G and 2G.

Tech Crunch, which reported the iPhone vs iPhone speed test, pointed out that new phone release by Apple tout the device as faster than older models. EverythingApplePro sought to prove or disprove that statement by subjecting the 8 models in a side-by-side speed test for everyday uses of the Apple handheld units such as booting up and loading a Web site.

Among the findings of the speed test is that the software changes in Safari on the newer OS found from iPhone 4 showed a significant difference in speed when compared to the 3G/3GS models.

Those rumours about iOS 7 that it takes phones upgraded to that OS take an eternity to close are true, especially on the iPhone 4.

But it is the iPhone 4S which serves as demarcation between the slow and fast devices. After 4S, differences in speed for day-to-day functions of the phone such as loading a page become slimmer with each next-gen model. But the differences are magnified for more intensive uses of the iPhone such as 3D gaming.
