It has been only over a month that Apple launched its latest iPhone 6s and 6s Plus on Sept. 9. Rumours have already started floating about the next generation of iPhones to be released, hopefully again in September next year.

The recently surfaced video on YouTube (shown below) suggests that, with the iPhone 7, the Cupertino giant is trying out something unheard of in the domain of mobile technology. The design strategy is called the top-to-bottom screen. If Apple really does use this technology for its new line of iPhones, it will be an unprecedented initiative in the world of smartphones.

What’s new on the card?

As always there are speculations on the name itself. If the device would be called iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus or a totally new name is something that seems to be quite interesting.

Other options that Apple has on the cards are complete physical redesign of the chassis, an improved 12MP camera with 4K video capabilities, a new plastic strip at the back, a headphone jack, waterproof protection and an e SIM.

Redesign rumours round up

Apple seems to be stuck to the 12MP camera but would probably increase the pixel counts to 400ppi (pixels per inch) to improve screen resolution. The new iPhone 7 is also expected to get 2GB of RAM like its predecessors, with the new Apple A10 processor and M10 motion co-processor, states a report in PC Advisor.

As reported by Macworld, next year Apple will drop the 4-inch screen model and the users can expect two iPhones – a 4.7-inch iPhone Mini and a 5.5-inch iPhone Plus. Apple is also rumoured to be unveiling the next generation of operating system dubbed as iOS 10 (or iOS 10X) at the WWDC 2016. The new iPhone 7 will come packed with the latest OS.

The tech giant is speculated to have patented a new style of headphone jack called D Jack with a diameter of just 2mm. But the sad part of the story is that, this will make older accessories incompatible. Earlier this year, another patent revealed that Apple is trying to make its new iPhones waterproof without changing its design.

Furthermore, Apple is also rumoured to replace the traditional SIM cards with an electronic SIM in its new range of iPhones. Both Apple and Samsung are planning to incorporate the new e SIM in their new range of devices in the near future.
