The iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are going to be officially revealed on Sept. 9. Speculations indicate that the newer smartphones are expected to appear similar to the last year’s iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus but are expected to come with improved features. It is also rumoured that one of the major improvements that will come to both the smartphones is the arrival of 12 MP rear cameras.

The iPhone 4s that was released in 2011 was the first smartphone from Apple to feature an 8 MP camera. Even though competitors' brands have been offering 13 MP to 20.7 MP cameras on their smartphones for the past few years, Apple has been consistently offering 8 MP rear cameras on its iPhones since 2011.

Another feature that iPhone cameras lack is 4K recording. However, 9 to 5 Mac states the upgraded 12 MP rear cameras of the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus will support 4K recording. The publication also states that the front-facing cameras of the upcoming iPhones will also arrive with new improvements.

At present, the megapixels of the front-facing cameras of the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus are not known. However, speculations suggest that the frontal cameras will be featuring a flash. 9 to 5 Mac adds that it will not be actually fitted with a conventional LED flash, but the display of the device will function like flash by lighting up whenever users uses the front-facing cameras to shoot photos.

Apple will be launching the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus on Sept. 9 at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, U.S, Phone Arena reported. A 4-inch iPhone 6C is also slated to get announced alongside the iPhone 6S models. As of this writing, there is no confirmation from Apple on launching a small-sized smartphone in this year.
