In a never-ending battle of technological supremacy giants Apple and Samsung are in for another tough duel after releasing a seven-inched tablet for gadget consumers. Careful weighing the specifications and price of the iPad mini and Samsung Galaxy 7.7, will help you decide what gadget to purchase.

Samsung Galaxy Tablet 7.7 operates on Verizon's network with a 2-year contract version worth $449 while the no-contract version has a higher price of $699. The device runs on Android version 3.2 Honeycomb operating system with the feature of a 2.0 megapixel front camera and a 3.2 megapixel rear camera which includes Panorama, picture editing and image uploading. The Samsung Galaxy Tablet 7.7 also has a storage capacity of up to 16GB internal memory and 32GB external memory with a SDHC/SHD SD card.

"The biggest selling point of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 is its gorgeous Super AMOLED Plus touch screen and there's no denying that it is very impressive. The 1280-by-800-pixel WXGA screen looks fantastic and is the point of conversation around this device," Kevin Kelly of Tech Radar.com said. According to CNet.com, the tablet shows a striking screen and a fast performance but the price eventually diminishes their interest on the gadget.

Apple's iPad mini, on the other hand, which now comes replete with cellular data will be accessible on AT&T, Sprint and Verizon's network. The iPad mini prices vary on the gadget type and storage capacity. For Wi-Fi iPad mini, prices are $329 (16GB), $429 (32GB) and $529 (64GB) while for cellular, the iPad mini costs $459 (16GB), $559 (32GB) and $659 (64GB).

The iPad mini, which is 7.78 inches tall and 5.3 inches wide, has a 1024-by-768 image resolution and works on Apple's A5 processor. Similar to all of the other Apple products, the iPad mini has a memory storage capacity of up to 64GB. The device is remarkably 23% thinner and 53% lighter than the third generation iPad. The device also features a 7.9-inch Multi-Touch display, FaceTime HD and iSight cameras. In terms of battery life, the iPad mini is estimated to last for 10 hours.

"iPad mini is every inch an iPad. With its gorgeous 7.9-inch display, iPad mini features the same number of pixels as the original iPad and iPad 2, so you can run more than 275,000 apps designed specifically for iPad. iPad mini is as thin as a pencil and as light as a pad of paper, yet packs a fast A5 chip, FaceTime HD and 5 megapixel iSight cameras and ultrafast wireless-all while delivering up to 10 hours of battery life," said Mr. Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing featured in Latin Times.
