Tech users in India were surprised when HTC decided to surprise them by giving them the One M9+ right away, skipping the unit’s predecessor, the M9. The M9 was just revealed in last month’s MWC or Mobile World Congress, but it looks like HTC wants India to be ahead with the device that was next in line.

The HTC One M9+ can be purchased at Rs 52,500 and will start to be available for purchasing in India by early May. “We decided to launch this model in China and India,” said Faisal Siddiqui, the president of HTC South Asia. He later added that the company is still negotiating whether or not to launch the unit in other markets.

This particular device will be featuring a 5.2-inch 2K display and will be running on a Mediatek processor. It will also reportedly have a fingerprint scanner. Furthermore, HTC users in the country might notice that the One M9+ will be bringing back a 20-megapixel dual rear camera, just like in the One M8. Such feature is not available in the One M9.

The 20-megapixel rear snapper is covered with a Sapphire lens, which supports 4K recording, while the UltraPixel is its front camera. It runs on the latest Android update, which is the Android 5.0 Lollipop with the HTC Sense 7 and is powered by a 2,840 mAh battery.

The other features are reportedly quite similar with those that can be found with the One M9. The device will sport a 3 GB RAM, 32 GB internal storage, which can be expanded up to 128 GB, as well as a BoomSound feature, in collaboration with Dolby Audio. This particular sound capability is actually HTC’s trademark feature, according to Indian Express.

Moreover, Tech Radar has reported that HTC will also be launching its new E9 + and smartphones from the Desire 326G series, in addition to the One M9+.
