Morgan Freeman is the latest big name to give his opinion about the "legalisation of marijuana" debate. In an interview, the actor talked about marijuana's medical value and that how it had "useful uses."

"They used to say, 'You smoke that stuff, boy, you get hooked!' " Freeman said, according to The Daily Beast. He added that it was his wife who introduced him to cannabis. The 77-year-old also said that he'd take marijuana anyway it came, saying "I'll eat it, drink it, smoke it, snort it!"

The "Bruce Almighty" actor then said that the movement to make cannabis legal was "really a long time coming." Freeman added that people needed to be aware that there is no real medicinal value in alcohol and unlike marijuana if taken a bit more, "people get "f***ed."

Morgan Freeman, talks from experience, saying that marijuana was the only thing that helped him manage the fibromyalgia pain in his arm after he hurt himself in a car crash in 1977. He also talked about kids suffering from Grand mal seizures and how the plant eased the symptoms to the point where the children "can have a life." Freeman added that, for him, this was reason enough to legalise marijuana "across the board!"

The Oscar winner continued, saying the government did not curb marijuana at "Woodstock" 1969 and there were no problems or fights at the festival. Freeman then compared it with the 1999 version of the music festival, when smoking marijuana was banned, there were "riots and arrests."

Freeman’s reasoning for legalising the drug were much more sound than the arguments of a U.S. politician, David Simpson. According to the Houston Chronicle, Simpson introduced a bill calling for the "decriminalisation of cannabis" because of the fact that marijuana was "created by God." According to the report, the Republican member of the Texas House of Representatives argued that the government could not ban marijuana because it was natural and that “God did not make a mistake.”

Morgan Freeman will be starring in four movies in 2015, including "Ted 2." The movie directed by Seth MacFarlane, also stars Mark Wahlberg and Liam Neeson. The movie is set to release in the U.S. on June 26.(Watch the trailer below.)
