"Vampire Diaries" star Ian Somerhalder shared an image on Instagram where he is holding a ripped out heart but it is for a good cause. The 35-year-old actor also talked about the Damon-Bonnie or "Bamon" relationship in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 6 if the Bennett witch returns to the present time.

On Saturday, Nov. 22, actor Ian Somerhalder shared an image of himself on Instagram as his TVD character Damon Salvatore holding out a ripped out heart. The CW star used the bloody human organ prop from "The Vampire Diaries" set to make a plea to his millions of followers on Instagram.

"Good morning... Have a heart today? Adopt a creature that needs a great home, smile at someone, go to www.omaze.com/Ian and help me make our world better with ISF? No matter what you do today, please please please try not to let an upcoming holiday season stress you out," Somerhalder posted as a caption to the image shared on his Instagram account iansomerhalder. Ian Somerhalder further pointed out on his message on the social media site that love and time spent with family is more valuable than receiving gifts since the holiday season is fast approaching. In his Instagram post, the actor even hoped that the youth nowadays will see the value of want versus need and they will not stress their already-stressed parents in buying things that they do no really need.

As for the parents, the TVD heartthrob hopes that they can spend some time with their children during the holidays. Meanwhile, Ian Somerhalder weighed in on Damon's relationship with Bonnie (Kat Graham) in the future episodes of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 6.

It is currently undeniable that there is another girl that Damon Salvatore cares about. Damon's relationship with Elena (Nina Dobrev) is currently messed up because she had her memories of loving the older Salvatore vampire erased.

With that, Damon focused on rescuing Bonnie after finding out that the Bennett witch is still alive through her bear Ms. Cuddles. It is still unknown if Bonnie will be able to return safely to the present time.

If the witch does return, actor Ian Somerhalder teased in a TV Line report that he will not be surprised if things started to get spicy between Damon and Bonnie. According to the actor, there is an extraordinarily thin line between love and hate and it appears to be appropriate for the Damon-Bonnie relationship to be explored in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 6 due to the dynamics of their relationship.

"The Vampire Diaries" Season 6 airs on Thursday nights at 8 p.m. ET on the CW Network.
