As it turns out, Huawei has apparently dropped the moniker “Ascend” for the new “P” series of devices. The new and shining Huawei P8 is an ultra-thin handset that comes with a full-metal unibody design. This P8 is apparently marketed as a smartphone with “advanced technology and sophisticated design.”

Huawei P8 Specifications

The Huawei P8 features a 5.2-inch IPS LCD display packed with 1,080 x 1,920 pixels screen resolution. This killer handset comes in four hues namely mystic champagne, prestige gold, titanium gray and carbon black. It is powered by Huawei's own superior, octa-core (HiSilicon Kirin 930) SoC and backed by a good 3 GB of RAM unit. On the software end, the handset apparently runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop OS with EMUI 3.1 on top of it. Plus, the handset comes equipped with 16 GB and 64 GB of storage options. Even though, this phone is not water-proof, the nano-coating reportedly makes it spill-resistant, says Phone Arena.

When it comes to camera specification, the Huawei P8 sports a 13 MP primary camera unit with RGBW (i.e. Red-Green- Blue-White pattern) sensor, along with f/2.0 lens and OIS support. In addition, there is also a gracious 8 MP front-facing shooter for selfies. Speaking of size, the new device is only 6.4 mm thick and it weighs 144 g. Lastly, the whole configuration is powered by a modest 2,680 mAh battery unit.

Interesting Huawei P8 Features

The custom user interface EMUI 3.1 reportedly comes with “Knuckle Gesture” option. Therefore, instead of finger taps, the Huawei P8 users can use knuckle gestures to trigger an action i.e. double tap with the knuckle in order to take a screenshot. More interestingly, the P8 users can also draw using the knuckle to crop out screenshots, notes Phone Arena.

On the other hand, the new camera unit with 13 MP sensor reportedly comes with RGBW arrangement, which is known for better performance in dim-lit conditions. According to Huawei, this handset houses the “world’s first four-color RGBW sensor” that has the capability to increase the brightness by 32 percent under high-contrast lighting environment. Plus, it can also apparently reduce the brightness by 78 percent in low-lit conditions.

Adding a cherry on top, the Huawei P8 is a dual-SIM handset combined 4G LTE connectivity. Furthermore, there are apparently two antennas housed in the device, one at the tail-end and the other at the top, to counter dropped calls. In addition, the handset reportedly comes with better noise filtering technique.

Huawei P8 Price And Release Date

As far as the Huawei P8 price goes, the 16 GB variant can be purchased for 499 euro i.e. $530. In the meantime, the Huawei P8 release date is set for May 2015 in Europe, notes Phone Arena.
