Samsung has been working on bringing the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to its devices for quite some time. Fortunately, many devices now have access to the update with Samsung Galaxy S5, Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Active and Alpha receiving the update. The Samsung Galaxy S3 may not be receiving the update as no news have surfaced from all the rollouts happening.

AT&T has finally released the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Samsung Galaxy S5 model G900A. The update for the device offers the following as listed by the AT&T support page:

· Songs, photos, apps, and even recent searches from one Android device can be immediately enjoyed across all of your Android devices.

· New User Interface look and feel, more fluid motions

· Priority mode to only allow certain notifications to get through

· Battery saving features and remaining time left to charge or deplete indicators

· Smart Lock to secure phone or tablet by pairing it with a trusted device like a wearable or car

· Most frequently used settings available with just two swipes down from the top screen

For those who have not received the software update notification, they can go to Settings > About Device > Software update > Check for updates. The phone should display a prompt saying: "Software update process will not delete any personal data on your phone. Check the AT&T server for new software update?" Confirm with OK. AT&T offers detailed instructions on how to download or postpone update. US Cellular subscribers on the other hand can also check their settings for the update. They can go to About Device > Software Update then confirm with OK.

As for the Samsung Galaxy S4, the official Android 5.0.1 Lollipop firmware has been pushed to users in Russia suggesting that it should be just a matter of time before it reaches other devices in other regions. For those who wish to try out a custom ROM, AndroidPIT offers a detailed list of downloads and instructions.

The Samsung Galaxy Active has started rolling out in Europe with the build number G870FXXU1BOB4. Samsung's Denmark and Finland pages confirmed previously that there are plans to release the Android 5.0 Lollipop update simultaneously to Samsung Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy S4 Mini and Galaxy Alpha.
