Rooting allows users to have root access to their handset. For those who want to do more with their Xperia Z3 devices and try out different mods can now root their devices based on several steps.

Rooting an Xperia Z3 can allow people to back up their device through app-data. They can also try a range of Xposed modules for Android. Android Soul notes the multitude of custom mods users can have access once they root their device. Rooting instructions are as follows:

Disclaimer: Providers of the update cannot be held responsible for what happens to the device following update. Users can update at their own risk. Rooting the device will also void warranty.

1. Make sure device is at least 50% charged.

6. Do a Nandroid Backup.

7. Install Root file.

8. Reboot the device.

Sony also announced in its blog that the Xperia Z3 and Z3 compact now have access to Root and ClockworkMod Recovery. According to the blog: "The Sony Xperia Z3 (D66XX) and Xperia Z3 Compact (D58XX) have received ClockworkMod-based Recovery and Root just in time for the release of both handsets."

The Touch Recovery is based on the CWM 6.0.4.7 sources. All details are posted under XDA legend DooMLoRD in the thread. All download links and instructions are provided in the post. To get the CWM-based Recovery, users need an unlocked bootloader. The device should also be running on stock firmware such as 23.0.A.2.93 (Z3) and 23.0.A.2.105 (Z3 Compact).
