Hollywood is filled with the glitz and the glam. However, it isn't all pretty and pleasant for a few celebrities. While some A-list celebs are celebrating their engagement or marriage, some have decided to call it quits.

The latest shocking split that continues to be the talk of the town would be the "TomKat" duo. Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes join the likes of Johnny Depp, Seal and many more.

Celebrity marriages may appear to be a dream for a few addicted fans but what happens behind the scenes? Not everyone can say their favorite celebs that have tied the knot and said "I do" will last a lifetime. In fact, celebrities who have lasted five or ten years into an engagement or marriage have called it off all so suddenly. Kim Kardashian's 72-day marriage with NBA Player, Kris Humphries, is so far the most shocking split but here are a few other celebrity splits that caused jaw-dropping moments in Hollywood.

The most shocking celebrity split so far would be that of "TomKat". Five years of marriage and it had all boiled down to divorce. This would count as Katie Holmes' first divorce while Tom Cruises' third. While details of the split are yet to be released, one word best summarizes the reason behind the divorce - scientology. Holmes' is currently seeking sole custody of their daughter, Suri.

Another couple who had just recently split would be Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis. The couple of fourteen long years have "amicably separated" of which was announced last June. Both Johnny and Vanessa have been dodging questions for two months but finally the cat has been set out. Days after the said split, rumors have circulated around about Johnny romancing co-star, Amber Heard from the film "Rum Diary".

Singer and songwriter, Katy Perry appeared to have a fantasy-like marriage with British comedian, Russell Brand. However, things went down the drain when Brand suddenly filed for a divorce earlier this year. The split caused a rift between Katy Perry and Russell Brand fans.

The split between Morgan Freeman and Myrna Colley-Lee would have not been so shocking if it were not for the reason behind the split. According to a few web tabloids, the split was caused due to Morgan's infidelity issues of which involved his granddaughter.

Fashion mogul model, Heidi Klum had been married to singer, Seal for seven long years. Having four wonderful kids together but the kids were probably not good enough reason to salvage the marriage. In January 2012, the couple announced their split and not one opened up on details as to why.

Demi Moore & Ashton Kutcher's marriage had a few warning signs before the couple even decided to tie the knot. Yet, Demi completely ignored the signs of "Player" and "Playboy" stuck to Ashton's forehead like glue. Thus, on November 2011, Demi had released a statement of divorce to Ashton Kutcher.

"American Idol's" Jennifer Lopez and Mark Anthony were considered the power couple. Both had amazing vocals and impressive dancing skills. Yet, theirs was also another celebrity marriage down the drain. On July 2011, Anthony announced the split ending the seven year marriage.

A few other shocking splits include that of "New Girl's" Zooey Deschanel and Ben Gibbard, Ashley Simpson and Pete Wentz, and lastly Bonnie Wright's engagement to Jamie Campbell Bower.
