Yoga calms the mind, relieves stress and aids in weight loss. It also boosts sexual performance, increases immunity, helps fight food cravings and relieves migraine. Adding to such numerous benefits of yoga, hip hop mogul Russell Simmons believes that yoga and meditation can help a person become wealthy, successful and happy. He has always spoken of the impact it could have on a person's life. This time, he reveals yoga's benefits in his new book, "Success Through Stillness."

Though Simmons is a wealthy man, he said he never felt happy or successful, and it was yoga that made him feel differently. He said he learned to manage stress and calm his mind with yoga and meditation. In his interview with FoxNews, Simmons said that the whole practice of yoga began 20 years ago; he said he felt that yoga boosted his happiness.

Stress increases the production of cortisol, which is bad for the body. And according to studies, meditation reduces the production of cortisol. In his newly released book, Simmons discussed how Transcendental Meditation has helped balance his life.

For instance, Simmons explained that the first thing about a job is that performance depends on a person's mental state of mind, his patience and his ability to multitask without losing his cool, which can be achieved through meditation. Worrying about things is useless, he said. One needs to "be present and awake and thoughtful. You know, when you're working you want to be here," he said. "Being present and awake and working hard is the key to success."

In Celebrity Health & Fitness' report, Russell said that he could handle his tasks better through meditation and it gave him a feeling of freedom. He also mentioned that he now follows a vegan diet as he practices yoga. He added that such routine allowed him to lose weight easily and find peace of mind, something his money and fame could not give him. He further emphasized that when the mind is calm, a person can reach his goals and become successful easily.

Furthermore, Simmons said that his book will have a "profound impact" on its readers. "... I wanted to demystify [meditation], make it simple for everyone," he told FoxNews. Simmons referred to "Success Through Stillness" as a gift or a service to those who read it. And it's a gift that keeps on giving, because all the book proceeds will be donated to charity.
