Thanos, played by Josh Brolin, will not be reprising his mutant role in the “Guardians of the Galaxy” sequel, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.” Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirmed this during a recent interview about the movies under Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Feige was asked to reveal some details about the preparations being done for the production of the sequel during an exclusive interview with Empire magazine. “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” doesn’t start filming until February next year, according to Comic Book Movie. However, Feige revealed that Thanos won’t be making a comeback.

“I wouldn't look too hard in that movie for Thanos,” he said.

He also teased that next time the Mad Titan returns, he will be up for some serious trouble.

“The next time we see Thanos he will not be messing around. It will be, 'Oh, that's why they've been teasing this villain for five years!” he told Empire magazine during his interview.

However, Feige assured that there will be a whole new set of characters in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.” He said viewers will see the “different incarnations of the Guardians over the years in the comics” in the movie sequel.

Feige’s interview with the publication debunked the rumour that Brolin will return to play Thanos in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.” The actor was speculated to make another cameo appearance in the sequel after Bradley Cooper, who voiced Rocket Raccoon, teased the former's presence in the film.

During a previous interview with MTV, Cooper teased that this time Thanos will be the main villain in the sequel. In the first movie, Ronan the Accuser, played by Lee Pace, was the main antagonist. Cooper even hinted that Thanos could be the real father of Peter Quill aka Star Lord, played by Chris Pratt.

However, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” director James Gunn was quick to refute Cooper’s claims. He took to social media to deny that Cooper had revealed details about the sequel.
