The second half of this exciting season has officially kicked off and there are a lot of exciting plot points to watch out for. Jerome Valeska (Cameron Monaghan) will be “rising from the dead” and at the same time, Ed Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) tries to turn the tables. Meanwhile, Selina Kyle (Camren Bicondova) reconnects with her mother as she reveals why she is in Gotham.

Spoiler alert! This article contains “Gotham” spoilers. Read on if you would like to know what happens next before the episode airs.

Dwight Pollard (David Dastmalchian), a morgue worker in Gotham and leader of Jerome’s underground cult, had worked for Hugo Strange before and has been trying to replicate the resurrections that were performed back then. The previous episode, titled “Ghosts,” ended with Dwight standing in front of a dead Jerome as he prepares to resurrect him.

In the next episode, Jerome will indeed return from the dead. This will again present fans with the conundrum of whether or not he is, indeed, Gotham’s version of the Joker. On another angle, perhaps he could be another inspiration for the Clown Prince of Crime.

In the official trailer (watch below) , Jerome looks more twisted than ever. It seems his face has been merely sewed onto his head as an entire army follows him around and laughs along. This comes to Jim Gordon’s (Ben McKenzie) knowledge and, of course, he gets distraught.

Another trailer provides that while out on the run from Bullock and Gordon, Dwight will try to revive Jerome and, as a result, his acolytes around Gotham City get activated. In the meantime, Selina’s mother’s (Ivana Millicevic) true intentions in Gotham are revealed. The power play between Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) and Edward Nygma will start to escalate, as Barbara’s (Erin Richards) plans get set in place.

This coming episode of “Gotham,” titled “Smile Like You Mean It,” will air on January 23 on FOX in the US. It can also be seen on SyFy in Australia.
