FOX popular series “Gotham” adds a new villain to its ever expanding list of evil characters. Firefly will be introduced to stir up things in Gotham city in the upcoming Season 2. There is, however, a big twist here.

Actress Michelle Veintimilla has been cast to play the role of Brigit Pike, who is part of a gang of arsonists, and Firefly will be introduced as her villainous alter ego, according to TV Line. In the comic books, Firefly has been always depicted as a male character, and for the first time, the female version will be introduced.

Newsarama shares that the villain has been known to appear by the names Garfield Lynns and Ted Carson in the DC Comic Books. The character reportedly appeared for the first time back in 1952.

TV Line reports that Firefly will be sharing scenes with Selina Kyle (Camren Bicondova), the young Cat woman. The younger version of theirs will develop a partnership, and later they will transform into the evil women. The new season will see Pike joining the family business after her brothers, a notorious gang of arsonists, keep her as slave.

The “deadly encounter with the Pike Brothers” transforms the “meek Cinderella into a vengeful supervillain, hell bent on destroying those who have wronged her,” according to TV Line.

It was previously reported that actor Leo Fitzpatrick will play Joe Pike, the gang leader and Firefly’s brother.

The Pike Brothers and Firefly will be joining “Rise of the Villains,” a theme that is being promoted to describe the upcoming Season of “Gotham.” Jim Gordon, the lead protagonist, is being played by actor Ben McKenzie, while David Mazouz is portraying the young Bruce Wayne .

“Gotham” Season 2 premieres on Monday, Sept. 21, at 8:00 p.m. EDT on FOX.
