Season 2 of the “Batman” prequel series “Gotham” will start airing on Monday, September 21 on Fox. With several months left before the season 2 premiere, actor David Mazouz who plays the young Bruce Wayne, speaks about the development of his character into his dual personality. [Warning: Spoiler Alert]

The official “Gotham” twitter page shared the premiere date for season 2 of the Fox drama series. "Gotham" is based on the early days of Detective James Gordon, a character well known in the “Batman” world as Gotham City’s Police Commissioner in the heydays of the caped crusader.

Apart from Gordon’s rise to power and notoriety in the Gotham City Police Department, the series also deals with the origins of well-known “Batman” villains. Most importantly, the series starts from the murder of Bruce Wayne’s parents. David Mazouz spoke to Monkeys Fighting Robots and revealed some interesting points about his character’s development. “When he's Batman there is his Batman side and then his public persona which is his playboy/party boy persona. In Season Two, he's really going to start developing that second persona,” he said. Showbiz website Cinema Blend finds it interesting that the series portrays the character in this way. He needs to develop into Bruce Wayne, the party boy millionaire as opposed to what is more widely perceived as his hidden “Batman” persona.

Mazouz explains that his character is a boy who is grieving the death of his parents. He is coming from a dark place in his life. Season 1 showed his interest in learning to fight and in finding justice in the world. This personality points more towards the “Batman” persona signifying that “Bruce Wayne” is the act.

Cinema Blend goes as far as to say that “Bruce Wayne” is the costume that he needs to put on. Alfred, the Wayne family butler will obviously be playing a major role in Bruce Wayne’s character development. See the video below for more of Mazouz’ comments:
