With the Warner Bros-DC Cinemaverse expanding very quickly, some movies that were not directly connected to the main arc that builds up to “Justice League” were introduced. The most recent of this is “Suicide Squad.” While viewers and critics gave it a low rating, a spinoff titled “Gotham City Sirens” has been confirmed to be released soon.

Many had considered “Suicide Squad” a B movie or something to pass the time until “Justice League” builds up and gets released. However, there is a part of every DC fan that would like to see more of Harley Quinn and, possibly, her companions Poison Ivy and Catwoman. Some fans reportedly want to see the inclusion of some characters that viewers had already seen in “Suicide Squad;” and this holds true especially for Will Smith.

Entertainment Weekly reports that while Margot Robbie will be picking up her bat once more to reprise her role as Harley Quinn, Will Smith has expressed his interest to join her and company once more as the acclaimed assassin and marksman Deadshot. Smith said that he would love to make a cameo in the upcoming film, which is to be led by “Suicide Squad” director David Ayer.

If, however, Will Smith will not be given a chance to appear in “Gotham City Sirens,” that does not necessarily mean the end of the road for his role as Deadshot. While Margot Robbie’s project is being focused on next, sources reveal that Warner Bros still has plans for a “Suicide Squad” sequel. It reportedly even has plans to move ahead with a “Deadshot” film.

While Deadshot might have a fanbase of his own, some critics want to keep him out of “Gotham City Sirens.” A source says that DC should let its universe breath and let Gotham City’s female population reach full bloom by letting Harley Quinn and her all female ensemble take the centre stage. As for Deadshot, he will have plenty of time on his own. Of course, Margot Robbie and Will Smith had amazing chemistry in “Suicide Squad,” but a cameo might make things spin out in unintended directions. How things turn out when “Gotham City Sirens” gets released remains to be seen.
