It has been almost three years since Roger Federer has won a grand slam title, having last won it in Wimbledon back in 2012. At 33, many question if Federer can still win another major title again, but retired Croatian professional player Goran Ivanisevic believes the Swiss tennis great can still win a grand slam title.

“I think so, last year he played well, he didn't win a Grand Slam but he really played very good tennis so you can never underestimate Federer,” Federer told NDTV Sports when asked if he thinks Federer still has what it takes to win another major title. “As soon as he steps on the court, you better beat him or otherwise he is not going to be easy on you and that's why I think he can still win a grand slam.”

Ivanisevic currently serves as the mentor of defending U.S. Open champion Marin Cilic. During his career as a tennis player, Ivanisevic has achieved his highest singles rank as World No. 2. He was a three-time Australian Open and French Open quarterfinalist. He was also a semifinalist at the 1996 U.S. Open. He also made history after winning the 2001 Wimbledon as wild card entry.

Federer’s Quest For Another Grand Slam Trophy Since Winning Wimbledon In 2012

It has been constantly being debated whether or not Federer can win another grand slam title. In all his last 10 grand slam appearances, the 33-year-old father-of four has failed to add one more major trophy in his long list of accolades.

During the 2014 Wimbledon Championships, tennis fans thought he would end his grand slam title drought when he reached the finals of the tournament, but his rival Novak Djokovic stopped him in a thrilling five-setter match, 7-6(7) 4-6 6-7(4) 7-5 4-6.
