The Android N release date was recently discussed at the Google I/O 2016 on Wednesday. Dave Bucker, VP of engineering with Google, has revealed that Android N would be available to users by late summer. Hence, speculations are rife that Nexus 2016 smartphones would be also launched in late summer.

The first Android N Developer Preview was launched in March followed by the second one in April. Google usually uses its I/O event to announce new version of Android. However, since it had already released two preview builds, the company has announced the arrival of Android N Developer Preview 3 at the Google I/O 2016 event.

Google had previously revealed that it would be releasing five preview builds before releasing the final edition of Android N. It has been releasing preview builds in each month since March. Hence, it is expected two more builds in June and July, respectively. The rumour mill is claiming that the Android N release date may be in August.

Usually, Google is known for unleashing new version of Android along with new Nexus phones. Since Android N is reportedly going to launch in August, speculations are rife that Google Nexus 2016 release date may be set in the same month this year. Rumours are rife that HTC has been chosen by Google to work on two Nexus 2016 smartphones for this year.

The Nexus 2016 smartphones are codenamed as Marlin (M1) and Sailfish (S1). Rumours also suggest that both will come out to succeed Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P from last year.

The Nexus 5X has a 5.2-inch screen whereas the Nexus 6P has a 5.7-inch screen. However, speculations of Google Nexus 2016 smartphones by HTC indicate that one of the phones will come with 5-inch and other one would house a 5.5-inch screen.

The design of the high-end model among the two is expected to be based on HTC One M10. Rumours are also claiming Huawei will continue to manufacture Nexus smartphone in releasing a 7-inch tablet this year.
