Actor Dennis Quaid was given the opportunity to announce the names of the nominees for next year’s Golden Globes, but he read out loud Saoirse Ronan’s name incorrectly. The actor has since received Twitter backlash for mispronouncing the Irish star’s name.

The video below shows Quaid calling out the names of the nominees for Best Actress in Motion Picture Drama. Cate Blanchett, Rooney Mara, Brie Larson and Alicia Vikander were among the nominees he read out first. When he came to read out Ronan’s name for her role in “Brooklyn,” the actor somehow stalled as he tried to determine how to pronounce the actress' name. Quaid then says, “Sheesha Ronan.”

Viewers who saw the actor make a faux pas out of the actress’ name took to Twitter to criticise his pronunciation. According to the Daily Star, Ronan’s first name is actually pronounced as Ser-sha and not Sheesha.

Another Twitter user named Trevor Spillane also wrote, “Sheesha Ronan? You'd think they'd spell nominee names phonetically for the poor announcers...” and added the hashtags #GoldenGlobes and #SaoirseRonan.

Quaid reportedly had a John Travolta moment during his Golden Globe nominations announcement. Last year at the Oscars, Travolta had mistakenly called “Frozen” star Idina Menzel as “Adele Dazeem.”

However, Quaid wasn’t the only one that suffered a blunder in the Golden Globe nominations. According to the Daily Star, the official Twitter page of the Golden Globe Awards initially mistook America Ferrera’s name with another Latin America actress. Instead of tagging Ferrera on their announcement about the nominations, they tagged “Jane the Virgin” star Gina Rodriguez. The Daily Star was able to capture a screenshot of the post, which has now been deleted.

“Little Mermaid” star Chloe Moretz, “Ugly Betty” actress America Ferrera and Angela Bassett were also tasked to announce the other names of the nominees for the 2016 Golden Globe Awards.

Meanwhile, talking to The Wall Street Journal, Ronan revealed that she celebrated her Golden Globe nominations at the nail salon, with Justin Bieber’s song playing in the background.

Ronan’s Golden Globe nomination comes after a tail of film awards this month for her movie “Brooklyn.” The 21-year-old was recently also given her Best Actress award at the British Independent Film Awards (BIFA) and the New York Film Critics Circle (NYFCC).
