“Girl Meets World” has been officially cancelled by Disney Channel, and actor Rider Strong had something to say about the network’s decision. The former “Boy Meets World” star, who has made several appearances on “Girl Meets World,” said the network did not let show’s creator, Michael Jacobs to get quite as dramatic as he would have wished on the recently cancelled show.

Strong has been on the podcast of Kevin Pollak’s Chat Show with guest host Samm Levine. He has expressed his sentiments through the show by saying, “I think what 'Boy Meets World' and 'Girl Meets World' tapped into is that there’s actually a huge segment of that age group, you know… the target age group from 8 all the way up to 16ish.”

The actor had nothing but praises for Jacobs, saying he really writes well for the target audience. Strong mentioned that they did had some really dramatic episodes of “Girl Meets World,” but said the scenes were not as dramatic as those in “Boy Meets World.”

Strong understands that the limitations are due to the fact that the show is airing on Disney. As the majority of us know, most of Disney Channel’s viewers belong to the younger age group. “I think had Michael had his way, Girl Meets World would have swung just as extreme,” he said.

Meanwhile, Disney Channel has sent a statement to TV Line explaining that it is “committed to presenting age-appropriate, entertaining, optimistic and empowering stories for our core viewers, age 6-14.” Disney Channel added that it is proud to have brought more than 70 episodes of “Girl Meets World,” which the network described as heartfelt and comedic stories.

The final episode of the show is titled “Girl Meets Goodbye.” It is slated to air on Jan. 20 in the US. Air date for the last episode is expected to be on the same day in Australia.
