NASA is willing to pay $18,000 to anyone who will do nothing but lie down and sleep for 70 days straight. This news is not a hoax.

According to NASA, the human test subject will participate in a study to determine how much a human body for 70 days can be like an astronaut's body during a space flight. The human test subject is expected to lie with the body tilted down slightly, with feet up and head down, 24 hours a day for 70 days.

NASA needs a test subject to help scientists learn how the body of an astronaut can change in weightlessness during a future space flight. NASA said the human test subject can do whatever he or she wants to do just as long as he or she remains seated or lying down.

Basically, NASA is looking for couch potatoes who would be happy to read books, take online classes, browse the Internet, play mobile games and chat with friends without going anywhere.

NASA will of course provide the necessary equipment to take care of the subject's personal needs and hygiene. After the testing phase, the human subject will spend a few weeks in recovery. Scientists will study how the human body will adapt after 70 days in bed.

NASA's senior scientist Roni Cromwell said the researchers will also ask the test subjects to perform tasks astronauts would do when they land on another planet surface. Subjects will also be asked to participate in a simulation involving getting out of a vehicle and move heavy objects across short distances.

Scientists will need to determine the human body's functional capabilities after 70 days of not standing up. Heather Archuletta, a previous volunteer and test subject, who is now a NASA contractor, told Forbes that her feet "hurt like crazy from walking for the first time."
