Along with GameStop, Simply Mac, Spring Mobile AT&T, ThinkGeek, Game Informer and Kongregate brands also invited associates and customers to join the cause.

Via its official website, GameStop announced the success of the fundraising campaign for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The donation was raised from point-of-sale from the customers. The funding goal for the campaign was US$1 million (approx. AU$ 1.42M) and finally, the campaign is well funded. Thanks to the kindness of gamers, St. Jude's can continue its fight against cancer.

“Our customers are truly amazing. Because of their generosity and the incredible support of our associates, we collected $2.8 million for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital” said Matt Hodges, vice president of public and investor relations for GameStop.

As part of its annual holiday fundraising which was started in 2013, GameStop has raised a total of US$4.2 million (approx. AU$5.95), Venturebeat reported. GameStop and associates gave shoppers and readers the option to donate to the cause against cancer. Anyone who donated US$1 (approx. AU$1.42) or more at the store received an extra 10 percent trade-in credit for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One games, as a part of other bonuses, Gamespot reported.

“The support of our amazing corporate partners, like GameStop, allows our doctors and scientists to continue our lifesaving work,” said Marlo Thomas, national outreach director for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The money will go toward helping advance the treatment and research of childhood cancer and other diseases. The funds are given with a vision that no family ever receives a bill from St. Jude for treatment, housing, travel or food.
