“Game of Thrones” star Kit Harington, who plays one of the key characters on the HBO show, has opened up about his life as an actor. With the epic saga nearing its finale, Kit Harington speaks up on how the show has affected his decisions in his acting career.

Before anything else, the first thing that Harington said about his career is focusing on the next two years of filming “Game of Thrones.” The 29-year-old actor said that he’s set on giving his all for the fantasy drama as it’s coming to its end.

“It has been in my consciousness a lot,” Harington said to The Hollywood Reporter. “This mammoth, goliath event in my life, which has so much of what my 20s are, is going to come to an end.

“I think I'm going to really make the effort in these next two years to enjoy every moment of it, because I don't know when I'll get something like this coming around again.”

Harington, who portrays Jon Snow in George R.R. Martin’s adapted medieval fantasy book, expressed his acknowledgement of how the show got him to stardom that he has now. Over the years of filming “Game of Thrones,” Harington was not able to get other projects while donning on the appearance and character of Jon Snow. Instead of deeming the show as restraints for his acting career, Harington revealed how he’s thankful for the series.

“It’s been a huge help,” Harington stated. “When it’s expressed to me that maybe I could in some ways be resentful of not being able to do other jobs because of “Thrones,” not being able to change my appearance, it’s a no-brainer.

“If I were to go back and choose whether to do 'Thrones' again, of course I would, 100 percent of the time. Because it’s opened up so many doors for me, and put me on the map in a way I couldn’t have dreamed of in drama school. I love it, and I’ll deeply miss it when it’s gone.”

Harington came out of drama school and he revealed that his initial plan was to be involved in theatre. He also admitted that he didn’t have any training in screen acting. However, the opportunity for “Game of Thrones” came and then he was bound to make some changes in his career plans as an actor.

“I envisioned maybe doing a stint at the RSC, or getting a job at the National, or one of those major theaters in London,” Harington told The Wrap. “That was the plan — just work and work and see if I can survive. But I didn’t see this (GOT) coming. I really didn’t.”

Meanwhile, Harington also shared what to expect on the upcoming season of “Game of Thrones.”

“I think it's going to get very bleak before if there is a happy ending,” Harington said. “I think with the whole "winter is finally here" business, it means everyone is going to have a really bad time.”

“Game of Thrones” season 7 is expected in 2017. HBO has announced a delay in the production, hence the airing dates of the show are yet to be announced.
