The premiere episode of “Game of Thrones” season 5 is just weeks away and the anticipation is building. Fans of the series are bracing themselves for another barrage of action, drama, intrigue and lots and lots of gruesome deaths. With the wait becoming almost unbearable, HBO released a brand new full length trailer during an Apple event on March 9. Also marking the announcement of the new HBO service called HBO Now, Apple and HBO gave fans two things to look forward to in the near future. [video below]

While the first “Game of Thrones” trailer was mostly a quick look at what’s going on with the main characters of the show, the second trailer focuses more on Daenerys Targaryen. The video was shared by HBO Watch and it leads with a look at Daenery's continuing quest to regain her birth right on the Iron Throne.

“Lannister…Baratheon… Stark….Tyrell…. They’re all just spokes on a wheel. This one’s on top…than that one’s on top…and on and on it spins, crushing those on the ground.” says Daenerys. While she urtters these words, The video cuts away to shots of the warring factions in Westeros. She is right of course. With the battle raging on for the Iron Throne since the death of Robert Baratheon in the first season, the families have all suffered losses in their attempts to gain power. They have also wreaked havoc on the landscape and the civilian population.

She finishes off her statement with her declaration in the first trailer that she won’t just stop the wheel but she will break it. This statement is then reinforced by a shot of Tyrion Lannister looking up in awe as he catches sight of one of Daenery’s dragons for the first time. A scene showing Grey Worm leading the Unsullied to battle also shows off the power of her army.

The trailer then cuts off to Stannis Baratheon who is one of the men fighting for what he feels is his rightful place on the Iron Throne. However, having been defeated at the Blackwater in his attempt to take King’s Landing, he has shifted his sights to the North where he intends to lead the battle against the White Walkers. He finds an unlikely ally in Jon Snow who also believes that despite the war going on in Westeros, winter is coming and the real enemy lies beyond the wall.

More scenes are then shown featuring all the chaos and bloodshed that’s to be expected on season 5. Some of the highly anticipated scenes with new characters and locations from Dorne are also shown in the trailer. The whole thing then closes out with a statement by Daenerys where she talks about her struggle to be a strong but compassionate ruler. She tells Daario Naharis that she is a queen and not a butcher.

Season 5 of “Game of Thrones” starts airing on Sunday, April 12 at 9 pm in the U.S. This is an HBO original series based on the book series “A Song of Ice and Fire” by George RR Martin.
