A familiar direwolf is reportedly set to return in “Game of Thrones” season 7. With the dragons all grown up, and the Starks dying one after another; the direwolves have been neglected for some time now. However, there is an exciting reunion on the cards this year.

The following article contains spoilers from the next season of the popular HBO TV series based on a leaked report. Fans who do not wish to know what happens next are advised to stop here .

Of the five direwolves that Ned Stark (Sean Bean) found in the very first season of the show, only two are still living. The first is Ghost, which is still with Jon Snow (Kit Harington), and the other is Nymeria.

Nymeria hasn’t been seen since the first season of the show, although the direwolf frequently appears in “A Song of Ice and Fire” book series by George R. R. Martin, on which the HBO TV series is based. The animal has been roaming around in Westeros.

According to a compilation of spoilers of the next season on Reddit, Nymeria will be reunited with Arya Stark (Maisie Williams). This reunion will take place mid-way into the season.

Arya had to let go of Nymeria after the direwolf attacked Joffrey (Jack Gleeson) in order to protect the young Stark girl. In the book series the animal was seen roaming in the north, leading a pack of direwolves.

The reunion will take place when Arya is on her way to Winterfell to meet with Sansa (Sophie Turner). The Stark girl will spend the first two episodes at the Twins, killing off the remaining members of the Frey family, before heading north to meet with the surviving members of her family.

The reunion of Jon Snow and Arya may not happen this year. The new King in the North will be travelling by the time his “sister” reaches Winterfell. He is busy defending the realm against the imminent invasion of the White Walkers. He will travel to Dragonstone to discuss an alliance with Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) against their common enemy.

Arya and Sansa will rule the North in the absence of their brother. It isn’t clear to what an extent Nymeria will help in the coming fight, and it is also not clear if the direwolf is alone or leading a pack in “Game of Thrones” season 7, the way it is in the book series.
