'Game of Thrones' Season 7 production update: Cast members heading to Belfast; Daario may be back

Belfast has traditionally been the home for the production of the popular HBO TV series, and it is expected to host the cast members again this year for “Game of Thrones” Season 7. Gwendoline Christie and Iain Glen were spotted on a plane to the city, with one of them reading a script.

Claire McGowan, a creative writing lecturer, said in a tweet that Christie (Brienne of Tarth) and Glen (Jorah Mormont) were on her flight to Belfast. Apparently she had watched the show the night before, so she found it difficult to stay calm in the presence of the actors.

The lecturer also noticed that Glen was reading a script. It isn’t clear if this was the script for the HBO series or another project the actor is working on, and McGowan was quite keen on wanting to know what the script was about.

HBO recently announced that the production of “Game of Thrones” Season 7 would begin this summer. Northern Ireland will be the main base for the show, and additional scenes will be filmed in Spain and Iceland.

Traditionally the production has been split into two teams named Dragon unit and Wolf unit. With the story now heavily focused on just Westeros, the future of Darrio (Michiel Huisman) was uncertain. Now a report by ABCdesevilla gives hope to the fans who want to see the actor again next year.

According to the report, some of the executives from the show visited the Roman city of Italica. The executives are apparently interested in the amphitheatre to film an action sequence. It should be noted that the location the executives are interested in looks like a place in Essos, and very similar to the Fighting Pit of Meereen where Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) first rode Drogon to get away from the Sons of the Harpy. This suggests that Daario may return next year.

More details regarding casting and production schedule of “Game of Thrones” Season 7 are expected to be announced soon. The show will only have seven episodes next year.
