Customer Joe Gibson and his 3-year-old son were initially enjoying their meal at Friendly's Sports Bar & Grill until the Missouri father got hold of the receipt. An angry Mr. Gibson shared the offensive receipt at the St. Louis Dispatch Facebook page to voice out the unpleasant incident.

The words "F***in needy kids was printed on the Friendly's receipt beneath Joe Gibson's order of a 7-up, chicken and fries. Not so friendly after all.

"My child and I sat in for a late lunch early dinner. The receipt explains for what. I called the manager or someone in charged. I explained how offended I was and what actions were going to be taken. They said 'If you're that highly offended then don't come in' ... click ... this place isn't so friendly. I got nowhere with management. Maybe you can help," Gibson wrote.

The Facebook post caught the attention of social media users and sparked up the numerous comments about the receipt. Some sided with the upset customer and said that the Friendly's receipt was uncalled-for especially when the incident happened on Father's Day.

"Maybe the waitress did have a hard time with the table. But, there was NO reason in the world to print that on a receipt. So much for the friendly in friendly sports bar," user Barb Cavner Larson posted on Facebook.

Another Facebook user named Pat Fisher weighed in as well on the issue: "That's fine. But resorting to profanity on a receipt? Come on... Keep it among the workers and don't bring the customers, who put $$ in your pockets, into it."

There are other people who defended the restaurant. "If you all think waitstaff doesn't constantly joke about their clients, you've obviously never worked in a restaurant. Fine dining or otherwise, it's just how we roll. Relax, take a joke," Jessica Dunek commented.

Denny Domachowski, the restaurant owner, acknowledged the customer's complaint and gave an explanation to what happened. "The comment was written as an instruction between the restaurant server and the kitchen staff and should never have made it to the table," Domachowski stated.

The restaurant owner further explained to Post Dispatch: "Normally, those kitchen instructions are cleared off the bill before it's printed out and given to the customer. But, obviously, they weren't. I can understand why the gentleman was upset and that's why I apologize."

However, Friendly's Sports Bar & Grill appears to find the story amusing on their Facebook page when they posted the message "Ain't nothing but a chicken wang." The user comments are still divided over who was right and who made the mistake.

This incident is latest in a series of unpleasant ones that went viral. Previously, a waitress was fired from US restaurant Applebee after she posted a note that she received from a pastor online. Another incident involved three women in a California restaurant where they received the bill describing them as "fat girls."
