An upcoming “Friday the 13th” video game has made its debut with a new trailer showing off a setting all too familiar with fans of the horror-genre. With Halloween just around the corner, the trailer just came in time to prepare the players for the scares coming in Oct. 2016.

Developer Illfonic and publisher Gun Media has officially announced “Friday the 13th: The Game,” which sees horror-icon Jason Voorhees track down and kill seven camp cancellors. The game will be in third-person with an asymmetrical view multiplayer game for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. Each game will be played in one versus seven manner, wherein a player must take control of Jason. The other seven players will take control of preset camp counselors whose ultimate goal is to survive the night.

The setting of the game will stay true to the film franchise as it sees the characters in a virtual representation of Camp Crystal Lake. If features areas like log cabins, a lake, a camp site and many more in the semi-open world.

“Friday the 13th: The Game” is fully detailed at its official Kickstarter page and the developer has put an emphasis on how he wants to make the game feel natural to players. One of its features is Jason’s ability to kill the counsellors in a variety of ways. Aside from the usual slash, Jason could also do things like pick up counsellors and throw them down somewhere sharp.

"It's a classic horror fan's dream, no shaky cam, no found footage. We want you to know we're revitalizing the golden era of slashers, and putting you at the controls of each horrific, blood-splattered moment,” the developer notes.

The upcoming title slated for an October release next year is actually a part of a game titled “Slasher Vol. 1: Summer Camp,” Gamespot reports. It shifted to becoming “Friday the 13th: The Game” when series creator Sean Cunningham saw promise the project, and then later on decided to aid the developers.
