More and more gaming giants are beginning to take baby steps into Virtual Reality technology, the most recent of which is Capcom. In a report published by Capcom, the company details its future plans for several of their series.

The annual integrated report by Capcom looks to detail the company’s financial achievements all throughout 2015. It also sees the development of new growth strategies and future plans for Capcom. This year’s report included a message from Jun Takeuchi of Capcom’s Division 1 team. The said team is responsible for key titles such as Resident Evil. Takeuchi notes that virtual reality is one of the primary focus for next year.

“At present, we are focusing our energy on challenging the virtual reality (VR) game market. In this terrifying world, you can twist and turn as you like, but there’s no escaping the creatures closing in on you…until you remove your VR headset and return to reality, that is,” said Takeuchi.

Technically, it isn’t Capcom’s first steps towards virtual reality gaming. Last E3 2015, the company debuted a game called “Kitchen.” It was a part of Sony’s virtual reality headset then called Project Morpheus. The game was received well and now Capcom plans on integrating virtual reality into their upcoming titles.

No exact titles were slated for a virtual reality features but Takeuchi notes that a horror game would be one of the best genres for the technology. Takeuchi goes on saying that an unmatched horror experience could be delivered only with the utilisation of a virtual headset.

Since Takeuchi is one of the brains behind “Resident Evil,” he may as well be talking about making the zombie-shooter a game for Virtual Reality headsets. Game Rant reports that next year’s “Resident Evil 7” could be Capcom’s foray into the technology as the series is in need of a way to regain popularity again.
