Perhaps it’s just Freddie Roach’s way of goading Floyd Mayweather Jr. to accept a fight with his ward Manny Pacquiao, nonetheless the world-renowned trainer is adding more to the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao hype machine by bluntly declaring that the undefeated American is “washed-up” and will be knocked out by the Filipino pugilist should the super fight come into fruition come 2015.

“You know Floyd about two years ago, I thought it’s about even. Now Floyd can’t run like he used to, he can’t move, his legs are shot, he’s a washed up, old fighter," Roach said in interviews with Filipino journalists days after his Pacquiao dominated erstwhile undefeated Chris Algieri in Macau. "We’ll knock out Floyd.”

Roach, who claimed that he was already watching tapes of Mayweather Jr. in previous weeks, has a Plan B if ever the American runs away from the super fight projected to happen within the first six months of 2015. The 54-year-old shared that they are looking to pair Pacquiao with World Boxing Council (WBC) and World Boxing Association (WBA) light welterweight champion Danny “Swift” Garcia if the negotiations with Mayweather hit another snag.

“Garcia. That’s my personal opinion,” Roach said in the same interview. “So we have a new stadium in the Philippines so maybe we’ll go there.

Curiously, the usually outspoken Mayweather Jr. has been silent ever since Bob Arum, founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Top Rank Promotions, admitted that there are negotiations on-going between the two camps. The 82-year-old boxing promoter announced the big news over the weekend when he mentioned the name of CBS Corporation executive Leslie Moonves as the other big wig who is actively pushing for the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao fight to happen in 2015. CBS has a contract with Floyd Mayweather while HBO Sports handles the Pacquiao pay-per-view fights.

While the Mayweather camp has had no comments so far, Pacquiao and members of his inner circle has been actively talking about the probable fight. Aside from Roach’s recent “trash talk” against Mayweather, the trainer also claimed that American is demanding that there should be a rematch clause in the fight contract in case Mayweather loses the fight against Pacquiao.

Pacquiao himself called out Mayweather minutes after the decision win over Algieri was announced and the Filipino boxer admitted in interviews that he has heard rumblings that there are indeed negotiations happening between the two camps. Additionally, Eric Pineda, Pacquiao’s business manager was also quoted in saying that they are willing to get the lesser share of the fight purse if only to assure that the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao clash will happen in 2015.
