The production crew does not appear content with giving Barry Allen some of the toughest opponents yet. Earlier, it was revealed at the San Diego Comic Con 2016 that the upcoming season of “The Flash” was going to feature “two big bads” and only one was announced during that event.

Writer Todd Helbing revealed that “one is a speedster that we’ll reveal later and the other one in the creepy mask in Doctor Alchemy.” Doctor Alchemy has not yet been cast, but is currently being voiced by Tobin Bell, who also voiced Jigsaw in the “Saw” horror movie franchise.

Weeks after at the 2016 Television Critics Association, Helbing finally revealed the identity of the other big bad by saying that it would be Savitar.

Savitar was created by Mark Waid and Oscar Jimenez and first appeared in Flash volume 2 in December 1995. He is a former Eastern Bloc military pilot who, while flying an experimental supersonic plane, was infused by Speed Force energy that made him incredibly fast, making him the fastest man alive.

As he believed that he has received some sort of divine gift, he named himself from the Hindu god of motion. His new identity puzzled him so much that he began a campaign against other speedsters. While he is as fast as many other speedsters in their universe, Savitar has the unique ability to absorb motion from other objects and people, thereby slowing their movement, according to Comicvine on Gamespot.

He, then, dedicated his life to a quest for knowledge and power while continuously studying velocity and pushing himself. After being thrown forward in time after losing a battle with Max Mercury and Johnny Quick, he shows up in the future with the new goal of defeating all other speedsters. Savitar will be played by "The Vampire Diaries" actor Todd Lasance, who played Julian in the seventh season.

“The Flash” season 3 returns on October 4, 2016 on the CW Channel. It also airs on Fox8 in Australia.
