“The Flash” Season 2 returns this Tuesday (Dec. 8) on The CW with its mid-season finale titled, “Running to Stand Still.” Leonard Snart a.k.a. Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) returns in this special pre-“Legends of Tomorrow” and mid-season finale episode. Meanwhile, Cisco Ramon a.k.a. Vibe (Carlos Valdes) moves on from his romance with Hawkgirl (Ciara Renée).

Spoiler alert: This update contains “The Flash” Season 2 spoilers. Read on to find out what happens next before the episode airs on The CW.

Captain Cold, who is a lead character in the upcoming Flash/Arrow spin-off “Legends of Tomorrow,” has a decision to make in “The Flash” Season 2 Episode 9. Does he go against Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) after the superhero saved his sister Lisa Snart a.k.a. Golden Glider (Peyton List) from an explosive death not long ago?

Cisco gives Golden Glider her name in “The Flash” Season 2 Episode 3 (“Family of Rogues”). In this episode, Cisco struggles with some feelings for the villain. Soon after that, he asks Kendra Saunders on a date, only to find out that she’s a superhero, and he has to let her go, too. Is there any luck in the horizon for this witty superhero?

“Oh, I get it you shoot arrows; you give love advice. You're like Cupid or something,” Cisco snaps at Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) in the previous week’s crossover episode on “Arrow.” He is getting frustrated, but he is a favourite character among many fans of “The Flash” series.

Aside from Captain Cold and Cisco, here are five more things to look forward to in “The Flash” Season 2 Episode 9:

1. Joe (Jesse L. Martin) and Iris (Candice Patton) meet Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale). How will the show bosses (Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and Geoff Johns) treat this DC Comics speedster? Reports are saying there will be a bit of ‘sibling rivalry’ between Barry and Wally. Fans are optimistic this won’t last long, since they are bound to be allies by virtue of DC history.

2. Mark Mardon a.k.a. The Weather Wizard (Liam McIntyre) teams up with Captain Cold and James Jesse a.k.a. The Trickster (guest star Mark Hamill). They set out on a mission to ruin Christmas in Central City. Will (Earth 2) Dr. Wells (Tom Cavanagh) and Jay Garrick (Teddy Sears) help Barry and his team in this Christmas war?

3. What is the consequence of Barry’s timeline alteration? In the abovementioned “Arrow” crossover, Barry and Cisco talk about the latter becoming the Vibe as a result of Barry’s time travel. Some fans are guessing this time, Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker) becomes an iteration of Killer Frost. On the other hand, there are fans who are convinced that Killer Frost would be from Earth 2.

4. Patty Spivot (Shantel VanSanten) is about to learn a thing or two about Earth 2. Perhaps she would learn about her boyfriend’s superhero powers, too. In “The Flash” Season 2 Episode 8 (“Legends of Today”), Patty nearly kills Dr. Wells of Earth 2. Perhaps Joe would take this as a sign to let her officially join Team Flash.

5. What will Dr. Wells do with his Velocity-6? After saving Wells by injecting himself with the Velocity-6 serum, Garrick makes it clear he wants to keep Barry away from the serum. Knowing Wells’ desperation, what would he do next?
