"Fifty Shades of Grey" continues to be the talk-of-the-town and with a film adaptation in the works fans are dying to hear news of an official cast. In fact, a lot of names of potential celebrities have been slated to play the lead roles of Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey. However, some early favourites for the role have been forgotten one of which includes Armie Hammer for the role of Grey.

E.L. James best-selling erotica novel is still the most hyped about book. With a film currently being worked on by Focus Features and Universal Studios, it isn't surprising that fans still want more. The film adaptation for "Fifty Shades of Grey" is set for a release on summer of 2014 yet a cast is nowhere to be found.

According to the production studio and the author of the books, casting for the movie might take a while given a suitable director still hasn't been found. Even the script written by Kelly Marcel is yet to be done which means casting is definitely a long way off schedule.

Of course, this isn't hindering fans from coming up with countless lists that name their potential stars for the role of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. For the count, Ian Somerhalder is leading a lot of polls for the role of Grey. Other favourites named to play the 27-year old S&M-enthusiast include "White Collar" star, Matt Bomer and "Man of Steel" Henry Cavill. These big three of course have tough competition for the role with newbies Jessie Pavelka and Jensen Ackles.

Well, Ian, Matt and Henry may be the current favourites but fans shouldn't forget the early leading man chosen for the role of Grey. Who would this be? This is none other than the "Social Network's" Armie Hammer. Armie had been one of the favourites for the role of Christian Grey given his impeccable taste in clothing and his brooding stare.

Hammer isn't the only old favourite to play Christian Grey. A few others include Alexander Skarsgard of "True Blood" and Channing Tatum of "Magic Mike." Check out the slideshow to see more of Armie Hammer.
